April 27, 2018 – Thanks to all who joined us for our Davidson Star Party!  What a great night!

August 21, 2017 – Both of our solar eclipse events were a huge success!  We estimate that approximately 3000 students, faculty, and staff joined us at Davidson College to view the near-total eclipse, and nearly 2500 guests from at least 19 US states and 4 foreign countries visited us for totality in Winnsboro!

April 22, 2017 – We had a wonderful night of fun as we served as a host site for the 2017 North Carolina Science Festival’s Statewide Star Party. Thanks to all who joined us!

April 8, 2107 – We had a successful first ever Davidson Space Day!  Approximately 350 guests were in attendance for an astronomy fair, public lecture by NASA Solar System Ambassador Jack Howard, and stargazing with the member of the Charlotte Amateur Astronomy Club.

December 1-3, 2016 – Our second star party of the academic year took place as part of Christmas in Davidson.  Thanks to all those who stopped to look through our telescope and visited our booth to make a Saturn or star Christmas ornament!  We estimate that about 900 guests visited us over the course of the three days!

November 3 – 5, 2016 – Attended the Quadrennial Physics Congress in San Francisco, CA.  Research student Vincent Hickl presented a poster detailing his research work imaging the Galactic center.

October 29, 2016 – Stargazing with the families of Shearer Presbyterian Church in Mooresville, NC.

October 22, 2016 – Fall stargazing at Fisher Farms Park in collaboration with the Town of Davidson, WOW, and the Charlotte Amateur Astronomy Club.  An estimated 400 guests joined us at the park.

September 29, 2016 – Our first Star Party of the year!  Thanks to Dr. Brad Barlow of High Point University for delivering a great public lecture as part of the event!

May 9, 2016 – Viewing of the Mercury Transit from Chambers Lawn.

May 5, 2016 – Thompson delivered invited talk to the Astronomy Club of Asheville entitled “Star Formation through Radio Eyes.”

April 29th, 2016 – Spring Fisher Farms Stargazing

April 8th, 2016 – Our first Star Party was a great success!  An estimated 75 – 100 guests showed up to view the nighttime sky through our telescopes, even though the sky was partially cloudy.  Thanks to all who came!
